“On behalf of the City of Natchitoches, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our city, established in 1714 as the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase.
Natchitoches is a wonderful place to explore, filled with friendly people, natural beauty and plenty of things to do for the entire family. The Natchitoches region is home to the Cane River National Heritage Area, Cane River Creole National Historical Park and a National Historic Landmark District, one of three in the state of Louisiana.
National achievements include being named as one of the United States’ Dozen Distinctive Destinations in 2005 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as well as a Great American Main Street Community and a Preserve America Presidential Award Winner. I encourage you to take the time to explore Natchitoches and see for yourself why Oprah Winfrey once called Natchitoches 'the best little town in the USA'.
We look forward to meeting you, and if we can be of further service to
you, please do not hesitate to contact my office at City Hall at (318)
352-2772."
Wayne McCullen, Mayor
